Just been out to quote for a job.
2.6 m2 of porcelain mosaic tile sheets on a kitchen splashback, newly fitted kitchen..
Newly plastered walls and the finish is perfect, I mean not even half a mill dip or stick out anywhere. Walls need primed, thankfully plasterer has done nowt to the plaster i.e. no PVA.
Kitchen fitter tried tiling them but they were sliding all over the place. Turns out he was using normal lwall addy with a normal trowel, well need I say more.
Now im thinking BAl mosaic fix, mosaic trowel and wet cutter for cuts. Mosaic looks an eggshell finish so doesnt look like it needs sealing. However guy said if I bought the sealer he would put it on to save money.
Has had 2 tilers out and both said they wouldnt touch it.
2 questions,
1. if they dont need to be sealed would putting the sealer on harm them in any way (was thinking of putting it on just to cover all angles)
2. Am I missing something? I think it should be fairly straightforward, able to do in one day and grout the same day so have quoted £150 plus materials. Have done a few mosaics and yes they can be tricky, but there are only 2 sockets and as said b4 lovely smooth virgin plastered walls.
