Hi

Yesterday I tipped over the loo brush holder whilst cleaning my polished carrara marble floor. I didn't notice any spillage at the time and wiped the floor with my usual LTP stone cleaner. Several hours later I noticed an orange stain - it must have been drips of water mixed with toilet cleaner that had collected in the bottom of the brush holder.

I tried calling my local stone restoration specialist but think he must be on holiday. He had previously left me some green acid etch remover powder and a scrubber to sort out any etching spots. I gave it a gentle scrub with this and it has lifted the stain by about 50% but its still there.

I'm assuming it will need a poultice to try and lift the rest of the stain - is there anything I can put on it myself (not sure what to buy)... or will I have to wait for my stone person to come back? Live near Tonbridge in Kent and there are no other specialists in my local area.

Also - can anyone recommend something for cleaning the toilet that won't damage the marble? I'm thinking of using those tablets that you leave in the bowl overnight and making sure I keep cleaning out the toilet brush and holder in future.

Many thanks

Hi again. Just to let you know that I phoned Tile Giant and they only have the LTP product. Having phoned LTP they said that they don't do anything that would remove this type of stain. Their products seem to only cover grease/oil stains - this is toilet cleaner.

I have trawled the internet and most products seem to be for removing oil - Tikko do a Stain Remover No 2 which covers wine/orange juice etc which might do the trick but I've tried phoning them twice and can't speak to anyone. Not even sure if you can get this anywhere other than their website (trying to avoid a further £8 delivery charge).

Tried calling a few local tile places but they all seem to have the LTP product and don't really have the expertise to advise.

Can anyone suggest a particular product I could try?

Many thanks

Thanks - do you know where I can buy this from? A Google search only comes up with large industrial sized packs from US suppliers. Can I use an alternative UK product that is suitable for stone? I've come across the following products that claim to be suitable for polished marble:

Mellerud rust remover for all stone surfaces 0,5L

HMK R79 475ml Rust Stain Remover (suitable for All Types of Stone)

Tikko R70 Stone Rust Remover

Lithofin Rust-Ex
