Particle flooring

Hi I have a Particle flooring in the hallway which I'm tiling which runs into the kitchen, which I'm also tiling. The kitcken has cork tiles which I'm removing but they were layed on a masonite sheeting which is about 1/4" inch higher then the hallway floor. Should I remove the masonite or place something on the hallway floor, or is the an easier alternative.

Not particulary familiar with Masonite Sheeting but it sounds like a good case for removing it and laying something like Hardiebacker 6mm instead. This assumes of course that your floor is solid, without deflection.

remove the masinite its just a cheap undelay for vinals and cork no structual strength at all for tiles it also doers silly things if it gets wet

i would remove the masonite and replace with hardie backer, i assume your going to overboard the lot and not planning on sticking tiles to the chipboard flooring
