patch repair

tiling a kitchen splashback next week with ordinary ceramic tiles problem is there is a large chunk of bonding plaster missing.
Was told by builder to patch it with bonding plaster and add a little cement to make it stronger.

Advise for a newbie please

Mixing cement with a gypsum product is a NO NO....Ettrignite formation..


Wickes do a patching plaster that does 50mm deep in one bite or you could clean the area out and dot a piece of plaster board in..
