True Tiling
Alright guys,
I have recently been awarded the job of levelling and then tiling a 60 sqm concrete outdoor patio using 600x600mm Porcelanosa ( terracotta-effect porcelain rectified) tiles. The builder had a go apparently originally and 30 sqm had to be binned (before I was phoned) as he spot-fixed them like flag-stones and they broke into pieces when a mouse sat on them.
I'm going to use 500Kg of Ardex K301 levelling/smoothing compound over this area (after building a shelter from the rain and using Ardex P51 primer) to smooth over and achieve a good bond for the tile adhesive (Weber.set rapid SPF). Just wondering if a DPM will be needed AFTER levelling and before tiling (I am presuming there is one UNDER the concrete, but it is too thick to see - concrete is older than 6 MONTHS). Can you also please remind me on what length a movement joint is needed in length - I seem to recall it's every 4 m?
Thanks
