Pattern book?

Hi All,

Is there such a thing as a pattern book that shows you how to do patterns with different coloured tiles. The reason for asking is that a friend had a tiler in that did a splashback for him using 5 different coloured tiles and it looks really good.

Now if that was me I'd probably end up with a repetative pattern so I'm keen to learn how this is done....

Not as far as I know, if you have, say 5-6-7 different colours just use two lots of the colours in a pile and use them making sure no two colours sit next to each other and keeps the tiles well distributed

I do it by taking about 5 tiles of the various shades/colours out of the cartons at a time, use them up and do it again, this way you can get a good random pattern without too much clumping in one area

Yeah - I shuffle up say 3 of each like a pack of cards and stick 'em as they are dealt.
Avoiding 2 of the same colours touching is a bad idea when using say upto 4 colours as you'll end up with a pattern. Just tweak if yo get dodgy looking blocks.

four or five colours is generally a harlequin type pattern (random) just shuffle all the coulours say ten from each box shuffle together and use as they come then repeat only adjust if to many of the same colour come together.

i use a program which i cant find atm but you put your colours in and it will give you a pattern to print out !!

This sounds interesting mate. If you could give me some details regarding the name I will try to source a copy.

I found this the other night, read the instuctions on how to use and you will be able to easily make up your pattern.

i just keep piles of the different colour and keep my eyes open as i'm laying them
