Been working with the PCI group lately at the training centre and they have a product developed called Pecilastic, it replaces ply and is only 0.8mm thick and works in the same way that ditra matting works absorbing the movement in its fibers from the surface below, what you do is go straight onto the chipboard floor with a 3mm mosaic trowel and flexi adhesive then press the sheet of pecilastic into the adhesive with a grout float then leave to dry then simply use the flexi ady to stick your tiles down, comes in 1 metre wide lenghts that is cut off a roll, costs about £7 per mt2 and cut with normal scissors.
