pdf's

Does anyone have any idea why my pc has decided it no longer likes pdf's or any downloadable documents anymore? It started to misbehave this morning.

have you recently updated your pc's Adobe Acrobat reader Dom? try and install the latest version if you think it might help. otherwise, maybe you've set your security settings to block PDF files?

Does it give an error mate?

I'd run your antivirus scanner. Then I'd run an adware clearning program (like "Ad Aware SE") and then perhaps "cCleaner" and do a reboot of the PC and see what happens then.

though if there's an error, I might be able to help better.

If it's the above, check your firewall settings and program control in windows. She's right, you might have just accidentally selected to block PDF's.

The only thing I have changed is to set outlook express as my dafault, I did this because if I clicked on someone 'contact me button' nothing happened. That seems to be ok and functioning now.
I will check the adobe whatisname thingymabob

There is a new version available, 9.3 iirc it may be that either you adobe has updated automatically and the files you trying to open aren't compatible with the newer version, or the files are new and don't like your old version, check to see what version your running, probably in the file menu at the top, help > about ???

My browser has stopped opening PDF's as well..( firefox) i have to use Adobe now..

Mine does this too, it says it cant open it. I click ok and it opens....sometimes!

Firefox doesnt seem to like them?

Ok.. just been looking on net as to why Firefox has suddenly stopped opening pdf's..

But i just use Adobe reader as it works great..


to enable this try this..

Open "Tools -> Add-ons (or Add-on Manager) -> Plug in's" to verify that the Adobe Acrobat plug in is listed and enabled. If it's "greyed out", select the Adobe Acrobat entry and click "Enable".

If you don't see the Adobe Acrobat plug in listed, close Fire fox application, open the Adobe Reader program and make sure that "Display PDF in browser" is selected in the Adobe Reader program preferences, under "Internet". If it is already selected, "toggle" the setting as follows: [3]

1. In Adobe Reader, choose "Edit -> Preferences -> Internet".
2. Deselect "Display PDF In Browser" and then click OK.
3. Choose "Edit -> Preferences -> Internet"
4. Select "Display PDF In Browser" and then click OK.
5. Reopen Fire fox application and verify that the plugin is enabled.

I didn't like Chrome when I first tried it, but after using it a little, it has some awesome features.

I didn't like FF when I first switched to that from IE. Now I look back at IE and wonder why I ever used it!

I found FF strange at first but it a lot faster than IE.. and chrome..
