Locate Your Computer If It's Stolen Or Lost
This is a cool thing I just found. If I had a MAC, I'd get it!
Have a read about that, it's free. Only when you need to see detailed info about where your computer is (and even a picture of the theif/user!!!) do you need to sign up to a premium account on that forum (which is a cool forum but its of SEO/webmaster related stuff to be honest) but it'll still be cheap compared to buying a new laptop!
