Would be easier to say where I haven't... restaurants, day centres, mental health institutions, pharmacies, youth clubs, manufacturing companies (lots of them, like Delabole, Martek, Wards... for years and years, as a freelance translator, interpreter and business German teacher), plolice stations and court houses, (again interpreting), language schools, colleges, secretarial offices, doing up cottages, my own translating office, my own health practice, and now, blissfully my own little studio/workshop. :)

In 1990, I worked in the official residence for the Vice President, in Washington DC. We were doing carpentry work, and the Secret Service shut the job down one day for reasons unknown. We called the boss and told him that we couldn't work, and he told me to "go help Kevin with the marble floor at such-and-such address".

I said to the boss "I don't know anything about tile!"

The boss said "Can you use a table saw? Well, shut up and go use the tile saw and help Kevin install that damn floor".:lol:

I stayed on that job for a couple days until the Secret Service said we could go back to work in the VP's residence. My boss said that Kevin reported in that I had done a good job, so now I was a tilesetter.:yikes: We ended up staying at that tile and stone job for about three weeks, and from then on out I did tile work for that company most of the time.

Man, looking back on that time, I didn't know nutin' from nutin':yikes: .
