plasterboard on studding

Hi all,just started bathroom refurb on our new house.I knew all was not well as the tiles were bulging of the wall & water came through the kitchen ceiling if the shower head pointed anywhere near the wall!
My query is which material to use to replace the damaged plasterboard.
The room is in a dormer & was vapour check p/b.
Should i use plasterboard,moisture p/b or aquapanel

I use aqua panel..but having ripped out many bathrooms, plaster board is fine..its the Silicon that lets it down...

Plasterboard and tanking kit, some cement boards will still let water pass through and they're more expensive. Having said that, what tile type and size are you fixing ?

You may find any moisture in the timber studs would soak back into the plasterboard and may cause further damage so as above a different material would be required....

Why is it the material of the past, the only time I wouldn't use it was if weights were an issue, it's going to be tanked anyway.

But this is my argument John, it's going to / should be tanked anyway, so therefore the job is waterproof so why pay extra when it's not needed ?

If your weight on tiles is within limits for plasterboard then i'd re-line and tank/waterproof.

Use a good quality grout, and it doesn't hurt to seal the grout joints after as well. If water is leaking through when the shower is directed at it, chances are it's penertrating the grout.
If the timbers have absorbed some water give it time to dry before lining.

Thanks to all for input,seems to have stirred up the ususl hornets nest when we all have our favourite methods,
I have decided to go down the aquapanel route,which posess the question,should i fix a dpm as i,m replacing vapourcheck p/b.

I would yes as Aquapanel will allow moisture to pass through, both ways, so I would still tank it.

Maybe not the right forum,but which is the best adhesive/grout to use over tanked aquapanel?
Have usually used tubbed ,But am always willing to learn/change,tiles will be 20x10 bevel edge,thanks.
