Plasterboard + Stone tiles

Grateful for some advice on whether I'll be okay putting 13mm Marble onto moisture resistant plasterboard.

I think the weight limit for unskimmed plasterboard is 32kg? But I don't know how much a m2 of Marble + adhesive weights.

Weigh a tile. Multiply by the amount of tiles per square metre.
Depending on what brand of adhesive you use will depend on what weight and how much you'll use per square metre. For example i believe weber is 1.7kg psm for each mm of bed depth.

I think you're right. I think it's over.

If the adhesive is 1.7kg a meter and I use a 10mm trowel for a 5mm bed then that's 8.5kg just for adhesive. A Google search of this forum (an old post by Dave) puts 10mm Marble at 30Kg so seems like 13mm would be way over. Looks like backer board everywhere.

Isnt MR board a bit dodgey to tile on anyway its not even supposed to be plastered unless its Gyp primed because of the moisture resisting covering on it.

Didn't I hear recently that all the plasterboard weight limits wee out of date, and were going to be revised, as PB can hold a lot more weight nowadays?? No idea whether they've got round to it yet!?!Can't say I've ever had a problem tiling to green plasterboard, but that's an interesting point lucius, and definitely worth further investigation...
