Ply sheet sizes?

G

Up until now I have only used boards from Wickes small enough to fit in my car i.e 1800x607mm. I thought normal ply sheet size was 2440x1880 but can't seem to locate stuff of that size, only 2440x1220.

What is the "standard" size guys?

Cheers Dave. In that case, ply isn't exactly cheap is it. A sheet of 18mm is going to cost me 28 notes, is that about right?

It is now ye!..prices have gone up.......hardie backer etc are not badly priced compared to ply now....

With the prices how they are, would never use ply again. 12mm hardibacker is better, it's water resistant, doesn't need sealing and reduces the overlay height by 6mm

Thats what I was thinking guys. Need the strength of the ply though for a floor I am quoting is it moves a bit!

6mm hardi is even better....hopefully BAL and hardi can come to some sort of agreement over recommended adhesives for 6mm board after they have there meeting shortly at team valley.....( ctd ).....

Comes back to the old "reducing deflaction" debate again though Dave. Nomoreply correctly fixed claims to be as strong as 18mm ply. If Hardie could assure me that using 6mm board will do the job, I would use it as it is readily available and (reasonably) easy to work with. Personally not sure though now after reading the extended posts recently!

GAZ...bal and hardi have a trade day at team valley either this week or week after and they are to discuss this then........maybe you didnt know eh!!!

i know it's fastflex on 6mm now but hardi want to sort this out....we will see what the outcome is......there needs to a better understanding on backerboards from bals point rather than over kill all the time IMO...

Iv'e been sent the e-mails between Hardie and technical. 6mm is not deemed as structural, when using to overlay you wouldn't adhesive first then plywood, so why do it with Hardie ?.....because they say so. Lets see if they can come to an agreement @ team Valley.

I can understand why they say use addy under 6mm Gaz. In my experience the 6mm board is not very flat and screws don't give a full contact in my opinion. The addy fills the void so I am happy with that. I have never used 12mm but I would expect it to be pretty much flat.

Suppose i can always get Aquapanel form Wickes!!!
