Black Polished Porcelain

Hi everyone, been a while since ive been on the forum anyways

Are any special tools required for cutting Polished Porcelain floor tiles as ive only ever cut ceramic or will just using a normal tile cutter/saw do the job

Also do i have to use a special adhesive and grout for porcelain

And finally sealing is this a definate before fixing and after grouting

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I am in the process of installing some polished porcelain floor tiles and have used a normal tile cutter without any problems, it is for 600mm tiles, and for the awkward cuts I have an electric tile saw that works ok once you remove the guide and go free hand

The guys here have advised me to clean of the wax and then seal the tiles before grouting.

I had to use white adhesive because of the colour of my tiles.

hi ya, what colour grout do you intend using if its white use white rapid flex addy, and if grey or maybe black use grey addy , as for sealing depend how clean you work , remove any transit wax, and seal before fixing if you want , again depend how clean you are, what cutter do you intend using

Hi Dave alright mate

Im doing the kitchen floor also installing UFH, thing is Dave ive just been to look at some polished porc in black at bnq and to be honest they wernt that shiny/glossy, i was expecting to see like a mirror type effect (well thats what my other half wants)

i may have to go for the original tiles we saw at ctd Gemini Gulf Stone Black Opel (an excellant high glossy tile) but very expensive) £100m2

Whats your thoughts Dave

Regards

The B&Q one will have a transit wax on it, thats why it is dull-ish in appearance..

I thought that Dave but surely the ones they had out on display would have had the wax removed, i tried rubbing them to check for wax but couldnt notice any

If you do go for the gulf stone kev.. let me know and i will pass on my discount for you..

Thanks a lot

Wickes and a few decent people have left feedback

So then gulf stone tiles are not suitable for UFH
