polishing/ honing slate

hi, i have just recently bought a flex wet polisher and 15mm demi bullnose bit for my grinder. I am doing a slate fireplace hearth and all edges are to be demi bullnosed. i am wondering what grite sizes are recommended. I Found that using 400 then 1500 then 3000 then buff worked well.
am i using the right pads or could i skip 1 out.
What is the recommended Grits to use?

can you tell me what you would use for both honed and polished?

Honed....100 grit / 200 grit and finish on 400 grit..

Polished.. 100 grit/200 grit/400/grit/800grit/1200 grit.. buff if required.

I've polished porcelain and have found if you miss one grade out it takes a lot longer on the following one.
