do i need a special tile cutter for
porcelain floor/wall size 330X500mm 8.5 mm thick
i will be putting them on the bathroom walls

You will need something along the lines as

You may be able to hire something from a good tile shop or CTD even.

I had some 10mm thick porcelain tiles to do and could not find a cutter that had enough breaking power!! In the end I went back to the old fashioned metheod of scoring them with my rubi then placeing a nail at either end of the score line then standing on it . All broke no prob some times brute for and ignorance wins over technology :smilewinkgrin:

most larger rubi,sigma cutters will cut these no problem,or if you don't want to spend too much try the big clinker from topp for about £70

I bought a tx700 from tradetiler for large porcelain and in my short experience it's dealt with anything.
Good for the nerves!

ive been using a genisis 600mm cutter with rubi 18mm wheel for cutting had no probs on any porcelain not bad £120 quid £10 for the rubi wheel darren at NETT supplies them!

I've got the same cutter,it cut 600x600x8mm porcelain with the 10mm that came with it no problem.

Hi. I use a Tomecanic 2175. Cut everything I've thrown at it. Prefer it to the Rubi as you don't have to change the cutting wheel to suit the tile medium

They Are Dave.
The additional horseshoe lever is great for breaking larger tiles with minimal effort. You snap the tile from the middle as opposed from the top. (ideal for triangular cuts)
