Porcelanosa Ceramic Tiles??

I'm very keen on these tiles for my bathroom but given the price (approx £55/mtr) I was expecting them to be porcelain.

Porcelonosa Ruggine & Ferroker range.

Question is, should i be concerned they are ceramic and not porcelain?

if they are on the walls no porcelonosa were one of the best made tiles in the world when i used to do domestics 15 years ago not sure if that has changed

I had it in my head that a ceramic tile was a lower quality tile, especially considering the price!

Most tiles from Porcelanosa are very good quality...

Its not a simple as that. Ceramics are not a lower quality porcelain. If they are suitable for what you want them for (floor/wet areas and so on) then you should have no concerns at all.

what size tiles? just make sure that if you're doing the floors that they are suitable. At the start of a large commercial job I expressed my concerns as the main contractor wanted the same 1000 x 333 on the floor as on the walls, a phone call to porcelanosa justified my doubts:smilewinkgrin:

Doug, i found that they big ceramics are quite soft, brilliant tiles as always from Porcelanosa.
When you go to a few jobs that have the good old B&Q's & then go back to Porcelanosa you realise why you pay a bit more for them.

Just done a job with the same tiles doug

1000x330's marfil colour, they were porcs on the floor but the matching tile for the wall was ceramic.

Wall - 33x100 cm
floor - 44x66 cm

Just done my brothers bathroom in Porcelansas Black Crystal (venis) 1000x333 with a 1mm joint and they look the business. They look like glass as the glaze is so reflective. I did use their grout as well as it is very fine and will not scratch the surface of the tile.

PS Can't you get a discount on that £55m

Well I have an account there and I get between 30-35% on most stuff, depends on how much I grovel.....

The larger tile suppliers will give a trade discount to the guys who will continue using them for their business but for a one off purchase they may not be so generous, if you know what i mean?

Ask for a discount. If you don't, you wont get one. I went to buy a TV a few years ago and I spoke to the manger of the shop, told him what budget I had and which TV I wanted. I got the TV I wanted and didn't pay the ticket price. I would have walked otherwise. It was a national retailer as well so they are open to bartering. Good luck.
