this is what happened to the alloy wheel off my car when i hit a pot hole, cost me £100 for a second hand alloy, the roads round Gloucester are terrible, and it makes my blood boil when you think how much tax we pay on fuel and how much road tax we pay ...........for what to drive on roads that are no better than those in third world countries

Great big pothole on the way to Guisborough the other day, A road, narrow bit, oncoming traffic a great big lorry, to avoid the hole it was either going onto the grass verge or be hit by a lorry... managed the grass verge, but the guy behind me hit the pothole full on, I saw him stop through the rear mirror but was too churned up about my near miss with said lorry or pothole to stop, couldn't have done anything anyhow, but a half meter hole at the wrong place just ain't funny, my heart was pumping like mad ... all that on the way to the LTP training course... must have been worth it...

It's the same everywhere I'm afraid and it's due to the particularly harsh winters we've had the last two years. From what I heard on the radio a couple of weeks ago it will take eighteen months to get the roads completely sorted out and that's if no more damage is done to them.

The councils don't seem to be in too much of a hurry as it's cheaper to pay out claims than to accelerate the repair programme.

Talking to a bloke the other day who was coming back down the M74 in his Audi estate pulling a trailer with a car on.Hit a pothole so big it ripped his back axle off, sent the car and trailer broadside down 3 lanes of the motorway without managing to hit either barriers.Wagon driver behind him saw what was happening and managed to stop in time and stop the traffic behind him.Audi driver rings the police, police not interested-claim on your insurance!!!!!!!!!
