preperation for tiling walls in bathroom

hi,iam just about to start tiling walls in my bathroom,at the moment there are pvc wall boards floor to ceiling,
my ? is can i fit ply board directly over existing boards and tile over them if so what thickness board would i need.

hi mark,my advice is to remove the boards and sort walls then tile.

always best to start a fresh

Hi, same as kilty, remove the boards & stick up Plasterboard or Tile Backerboard.

I would not recommend tiling onto ply on your walls as it will swell if any moisture gets in, especially round your bath or in your shower.

As the others have already said, remove old linings and start fresh. Use plasterboard or cement sheeting. This way you could also add insulation batts if there are not any installed.
