Hello

I'm just a DIYer with no trade account.

I'm needing BAL fastflex to cover 5m2, and I reckon I will need two of the 7.5kg powder/5L liquid sets.

Topps quoted £92 for EACH set!!!!i.e. £180+ for what I need.

A local trades place is quoting £60 for the two sets (£30 each).

Is that a good price?

I know many would say I need to ply first, but....I'm tiling straight on to well secured chipboard in the bathroom with 600mmx300mm porcelain tiles. So what primers and grey grout should I be looking for?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Thanks for the replies.

Plying really isn't an option because of depth constraints, so I'm going to hope the BAL fastflex/chipboard combo works.

£60 for two bags and two bottles suddenly seemed like great value when Topps wanted £92 for one set!!!

P.S. How important is the GT1 admix, as that's the one thing I didn't get today.

A quick look suggests another £20 for that. I'm haemorrhaging money here!

Got enough of the floor tiles down so I could install the new toilet and sink above. Looking good, and seems very firm.

And I remember the advice to wear gloves when using the BAL flex adhesive, as it's very messy. Unfortunately, I only remembered once I had half of it stuck to my fingers!!!

Still to grout though. I'll try to track down some of that additive. For some reason the place (in Dundee) that sold me the BAL grout does not stock GT1.

Thanks again for all the advice chaps.
