Aqua Tiling

Ive just had a phone call from a bloke, asking for a price on a bathroom, 2m long, 1.8 wide, and 2.4 metres high. he thinks they are 300x300 ceramics.

this is all i know so far, he is a interior designer, so im guessing all the work is done and its just tiling.

just the walls btw.

i was thinking £500 for the tiling, do you think that is to cheap or to much.

So less bath door and a window ??? have you seen the job? You cant price over the phone, you could be asking for trouble.

With the measurements you have it comes to 18.24m2 less the bath, door and window = approx 4m2 you have 14.24m2 so you are charging him £35.11 m2 ?
Nice money if you can get it...but i dont think so.

Oh i have moved this to the pricing forum.

there is no bath, and toilet and sink is in unit, ive just phoned him as i was driving before. all walls are newly plastered. Sir ramic whats a reasonal price, in yoyr opinion

As far as i am concerned you can charge what you like and i really hope you get it. Getting prices up is good for us all but i can see you are going to price yourself out of the job IMO

How long will it take you?
As stated before you need to make sure what materials you are using.
No bath ok, window? so you may need trim. Door ? must have a door so we are talking about 16m2 then ?
Toilet and sink in? i hope they have allowed to tile behind, unless its built in furniture which would mean less tiling.....you see why you cant price over the phone ?

Never price a domestic job blind, if pushed for a price over the phone give wide guesstimates. say anywhere between £300-600 all subject to a site meeting

Interior designers are good ones to get in with but all sorts of people call themselves 'Interior Designers' when in reality they've helped a mate do up their bedroom once so be careful. If when you meet them they start saying they've got all sorts of work lined up and want a good price then I end up interviewing them on their company and ask to see the portfolio. If it makes good business sense then offer preferential terms or even a kickback if not then charge what you would do anybody else

Mate, with rapid set addy, you can get a tiler to knock that out with the grouting in a day for 150 notes! See the job, sell yourself. I saw a job today, 120 m2 ceramic floor & walls, sold myself by the chat and got the booking.

Really? if a tiler can get that done and dusted in day whilst making a good job then he should be charging more than £150 day rate

Never quote over the phone, arrange a time to check the bathroom out meet the owner and sell urself.

Dont price a small bathroom on a meterage rate , leave that for bigger jobs and floors mate.

charge a daily rate unless ur bathroom pro.

Lots of tilers lose money doing bathrooms on meterage rates.

good luck mate,

Trev
