should bare plaster be primed and what primer, and is thinned down sbr ok I know you shouldn't use unibond but I have seen boys just damping down the bare plaster and tiling over as they say it is a better bond when the adhesive sets

Yes but you should use what the manufacturer of adhesive you use recommends
