pts mosaic course

anyone been on this course! i dont get many mosaic jobs maybe 2 a year and was just wondering if this course will be any good or is it just for beginners. the bisazza guys are there so it should be decent. any thoughts fellas

Any course is worth it's value if it teach's you something, if your not sure about a subject go for it. I done a gcse about 8 years ago got a c in english language because I passed no subjects when I left school (1971). I was well chuffed

I'd perhaps give it a go first mate if you can tile normal already there's not too much that you can be shown that wouldn't make sense. Key is adhesive selection and condition of substrate really.

Yeah, I can't see how there is enough to learn about mosaics for a course on it's own.....

I seen the website, but with the type of housing area I work and live in I don't see many people going for that in their bathrooms, living room etc.

I did the Bisazza Mosaic course with PTS (the only one run outside Bisazza and approved by them). Its very good and is not for beginners.
Its 3 days and you learn how to fix paper and mesh backed Bisazza mosaics plus other skills that apply to Bisazza, you also use their adhesives and fillgel (epoxy grout).
Most of the skills can be applied to other mosaics.
Ive recently quoted on a large Bisazza job (keeping tootsies crossed!).

The Bisazza Mosaics don't seem that unique to me so I'm assuming they're fitted the same as the rest of the mosaics. So really there shouldn't be too much to it.

Just to add my twopenneth
a rep from Bizassa came and visited our PTS course. Told us that their business was booming and that they had more orders than approved tilers for their product. Showed us a few samples, some run of the mill £100 a square metre stuff (!) - but according to her the demand for fitting the expensive range £3000 a square metre (£3000 is correct) had out stripped their ability to recommend approved tilers. The course, one coming up in Jan I think was 3 days and cost about £450. She said for this you would, if successful, be put in touch with a Bizassa contact for jobs that came up in your area. I think the going rate was between £60 - £80 a metre. Highly specialised I feel.

I think she was impressed with my one tile teapot stand and I await a call :-()

To be a registered Bisazza fixer you do some jobs with Bisazza mosaics and then you get a bod from Bisazza to shadow you on a job, and if youre up to scratch they'll then approve you as one of their fixers.
