quartz granite tiles staining

just been to price up a regrout on quartz granite tiles (white) they have been down a year and stains are appearing they look like tea stains, the Manufacturers instuctions say non porus no need to seal the cleaners have been using non bleach cleaning products any ideas how to remove these stains ?


Also they wanted the whole floor regrouting because they have replaced four tiles that were badly stained and the new grout looks bad against the old dirty grout do you think it would be a better idea due to the price these tiles would cost to replace to clean the existing grout and seal ?

real quartz should not stain with tea but there are some quartz tiles on the market with have ahight marble content and a low quartz content these stain very easly .try rubbing some tooth paste white with a dry cloth on the marks .before pricing to re grout .do a small area see how hard grout is to remove

they are not tea stains they just look like them at first thought might be the adhesive bleeding through but they have been down a year, think i will stay away from the regrout as only a 1mm grout line and think would risk damaging the tiles . will try the toothpaste on the stains

remeber this is a very exspensive remover dont sell your knowledge cheaply

i take it its the Bicarbonate of soda doing the cleaning can't you just use that or is it to abrasive ?

Why not recolour the grout ?

bicarbonate of soda will heat up may damage the surface. stain should just be on the surface if real quartz .should clean off easy .

i would not try to recolour floor grout waste of time .why not stain down the new grout joints so the dont stick out .try grannit cleaner if you like .tooth paste is slitely abrasive this can loosen a surface stain

This was a job that had grout discoloured by flood damage over a year ago grout colour was used, Its still perfect today

seems to work well on top of a sand and cement based grout .i still have my douts on flexigrouts but we can all be proved wrong:8:

The original grey grout was a flexible grout. Yes we can all be wrong but as long as we share information then it cant hurt. This was 1st hand info on the colourant and I for one am sold mostly...only issue I would have is colouring dark grouts to a lighter shade. Again I have tried it but with varying success.
