Hi All.
I'm about to start grouting walls in bathroom, I've tiled three floor to ceiling panels in glass mixed mosaic as part of the design. My question is that amongst the glass mosaic there are also random mirror effect mosaics which are all protected with white polythene over the face of each tile, should i leave the polythene on until grouting is complete to protect them or can i remove the polythene before grouting, will the grout scratch the mirror tiles as i apply the grout ? I am using Mapei Ultracolour grout (anthricite) if this helps. Cheers.

Are you talking about stainless steel mirror effect or proper mirror tiles?

Probably the metal capped tiles. I usually grout over the plastic but remove while washing off.

Yes they are the metal capped tiles as you described.

Thought so, glass mirror tiles would have been so much safer! The mirror stainless steel tiles scratch super easily, use the finest grout possible, I'm with Jamie (kilty) there, and yes, I would leave the plastic on, too, as Neale (Sir Ramic) does for as long as possible, and remove just with your fingernail or a thin plastic knife underneath later. Floor to ceiling? You'll have fun then.. it's a meditation...
