Can I have some help please - need to quote 12sqm concrete (flat and ready) floor. Fixing 30x30 (ish) slate.

Any ideas what you would charge? Labour only.

I know it needs a good sealing before fixing and again before grouting. A good clean up and re-seal finally.

It's uncalibrated but not too differing in thickness 12-15mm.

Thanks Den - that seems to be on the cheap side of cheap though!
I was thinking 2 - 2.5 days for a quality finish. Couple having a very nice new kitchen and want a quality floor. There will the usual in and outs and kickboards to trim, skirts to remove and re-fit etc.

I would want about £350 to do that, as you will need to sort out tiles, thick, medium, thin before laying, and the final coat of sealing would have to be done the following day when grout and tiles are dry. There is a bit more work than just laying ceramic tiles. Good luck

I'd say about £35m2 or round it of at 3 days with all the messing about £450 labour only.

Wouldbe looking at £400-£450 myself. Layed 1 just before x-mas and it was a b**ger to get slate clean. was cheap slate mind u,had to buy a hard brush with
HG cleaner and scrubbed them 3 times to get them clean enough.

I would want at least that as well don't forget it's all got to washed, sorted and wetcut!!! Why can't they be sealed the same day?

i recently did a slate floor, what a nightmare! no 2 tiles were the same thickness or size, some were 6mm thick and others were 15mm, so there were a few lips? tried to sort out different thickness's before hand, but it was only a small floor so not many tiles to choose from

I've seen the slate I am to use and it's pretty good. Not 100% square but it barely deviates in thickness. I suspect the worst thing wil be the cleaning before sealing and grouting. Oh well - here we go......!

Just wash them down as you go, then before sealing wash the whole floor down, let it dry and give it a good seal. When I do slate it's the only time that I will bite the bullet and use my grouting gun as it's a lot easier to clean afterwards. After grouting give a good wash down and another coat of seal........job done. Have fun.
