i ve just been to quote a job today i dont have a clue what to charge usually i dont struggle in pricing but this one im abit unsure i dont want to do it too cheap but i dont want to rip her off its for an old lady in preston.


porch floor requires orginal quarry tiles taken up and there a hole in the middle of the porch which will need filling in. I will supply mats i need to rip up exsisting tilesand i was going to sand and cement screed the floor the tile is porcelain but only 1m2

Did a porch for someone the other day. Floor had already been screeded, so only charged day rate to tile it. You'll need to consider drying time on screed if you are filling in hole as I am sure you know (how big is hole to repair? may get away with levelling comp / rapidset if shallow dip, but not if bigger) Could you screed it on way to another job and then tile it later when properly cured? Then its only a one day rate if dont want to overcharge

i see your point chris but i have to rip the tiles off and then screed which is probably the longest bit the tiling will probably take half an hour

you could level it with weber niv dur it can go 30mm thick and 50mm in localised areas also sets in 3 hours

How deep is the hole Lee you have to fill ?

its nearly 2 inch gaz but once i rip the exsisting tiles off then it would require slc so i thought id be better give it a sand and cement screed any easier suggestions welcome

If you are only dealing with 1m2, then level up with PTB.
This can be bedded up to an inch in thickness, fill the hole in 2 applications. If porcelain is going down then use PTB Flexible. I have a bag on the van you can have as a gift from me...

You could have used BAL quick set cement for your screed. Could have been tiled in 24hrs. Are you going to Ditra/durabase it?
