i need to raise the level of 10m2 of floor (floorboards) by 20mm to bring it up to the level of some existing tiles that are next to it. This is so i can then tile over both the existing tiles and the newly raised floor to make the room as one. (does that make sense???)
can anyone advise me on a cost effective way to do this??
cheers guys

Just use 18MM PLY ( wbp ).....where the 2 floors meet you will probs need to put a movment joint there............what substrate is the other floor..?..

its floorboards throughout, but one half of the room has old tiles on and the other half has just had laminate floor ripped out, hence the reason for needing to raise the level.

customer wants me to tile over the old tiles and tile the other half aswell.

hope this makes sense!

Thanks for the help:thumbsup: !

As long as existing tiles are solid there is no problem but you do need an expansion joint where the 2 floors meet. You can either use a premade one or use Silicon.

Woud it not be easier to rip out the lot and start afresh mate..........will make a better job and then you can drop down the thickness of the ply...?

i did give her the option to rip it up but her husband already tried ripping some out and made a boob of it, plus she wasnt keen on the extra for boarding the lot out again.
might try her again with the idea tho
