Ramp up AND ramp down LED driver... do they exist? Discussion ThreadRamp up AND ramp down LED driver... do they exist? Electrical Advice
Before I build this thing from scratch, I just want to see if anyone has come across a pre-existing LED driver that does this...
Myself and some neighbours want to install LED strip lighting around our driveways, triggered via PIRs. Tried a strip my work had spare and it looked great. But, we all agreed, it would be nice for them to dim up when the PIR triggers, then dim off again after the PIR timer expires. Say for example, couple of seconds to come on, and couple of seconds to go off again. I stupidly offered to find LED drivers that would do this, insisting we wouldn't need to spend a lot of money on a proprietary system to get the desired effect... but, after hours of scouring the internet, just starting to appreciate that they might not exist!!!
I have found manually dimmed drivers that take a 230v feed from a traditional dimmer switch, ones that take a 0-10v input, physical touch switches etc, but not a 'bog-standard' 12v driver that both ramps up, and ramps down with a predetermined time, operated from a simple switched input.
The first picture shows the behaviour we want the lights to exhibit, the 2nd picture shows what I was convinced I had seen on the shelf in CEF a few months back...
I am an electronics guy, so shouldn't have a problem knocing something up o
ut of an arduino to sense an input from a PIR, and output a 0-10v or PWM signal to a traditional dimmer-driver if needs be. But, before I consider this, has anyone ever used/seen/heard of a driver that does this off the shelf?
Many thanks in advance I appreciate the help
