I just nipped home for some lunch as I'm working very locally today and I wondered; The bathroom I am finishing off has had one wall fixed by the owner's father. He has fixed 600x300x12mm Porcelain with acrylic adhesive from the tub. Used a 3mm trowel and the walls are all uneven. Also the plaster was not primed and was only a week old. I took off one tile out of curiousity and it pulled off really easily with my finger tips, the addy was still moist and there was condensation on the back of the tile! The tiles were fixed 3 weeks ago! Should I advise the customer that the wall really needs re-fixing or do you think he'll be ok? They are big tiles to fall off! Obviously, my walls will be done correctly! What's y'thoughts?

take them off and re do for that size tile you need flexable powder gear as its porcelain

i would show him how easy they come off & advise him on the right course
of action.
easier to re do now rather than later.

calvy :beer_yum:

I've primed walls with Bal Bond and will use Bal single part flexible. Can't think of a better alternative.

spot on GD...dispersion adhesives are no good for large format tiles as they will take for ever to dry towards the tiles centre and as you say dont adhere to porcelain ...so spf will be the choice and use a flexi grout as well as normal doesnt adhere to the tiles edges if porcelain.......dave..
