hi all, after my last thread "tough decision" i now have a very good day job offered too me today. I am not selling my tools or van as i will be tiling small jobs @ weekends. Thanks for your wise words on last thread, cheers all:hurray:

Photspectrometer analysis and X-ray fluorescence, sounds dull but the cash is good.....

Im doing it the other way round im part time, but could easily go full time as im giving so much to another tiler, i just keep the best paying jobs for myself :lol:

Thats a good question i will try to answer, Modern Portland cement is made by mixing substances containing lime, silica, alumina, and iron oxide and then heating the mixture until it almost fuses. During the heating process dicalcium and tricalcium silicate, tricalcium aluminate, and a solid solution containing iron are formed. X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), a standard technique across the cement industry, is used to determine metal-oxide concentrations and oxide stoichiometry. :huh2:
