Regrouting job

Hi all,
been tiling for over three years now and still going strong!! but....im on my first regrout job
ive got a five metre floor and its taken me all day to take nearly half the grout out!!!
Has anyone any advice on the best way to get it out??? im using a grout rake with a carbon blade and its rubbish.
Anyone got any hints on how to take the sting out of regrouting and to get it done a little quicker.

Do you have a Fein or bosch multi tool?

I use a Fein, but refuse to do regrout jobs, mainly because of the issues you are experiencing .

I havent got either of them.......could get one first thing??do they make the job quicker? was tempted to get the grinder out but its to aggressive.

hi tiler,get a hand szed peice of baton and hammer a masonry nail throo it......this will remove your grout...the masonry nails are solid

Hate re-grouts :mad2: Usually when you price on day rate its not a cost effective solution from the customers point of veiw, so dont do too many.

When we do we use a grout rake which is cheap enough to bin after the job, and effective enough

I hate grout rakes, whatever make. I always manage to get a blister on my thumb whenever I've used one.

I have a Fein, used it to remove the grout from around one tile. Was dead easy but still wouldnt even contemplate a regrouting job

The quickest way by miles is to use a Exakt saw with a diamond blade ( cuts thro grout no probs) and clean the edges up with a grout rake. You need a vacuum but the saw comes with all the attachments. As long as the grout is wider than 2mm and you're careful not to catch the tiles.

i charge as much for a re grout as a re tile and the re tile is quicker

if some one asked i would do a re-grout on a very very good day rate , heres hoping no one asks ,but i would use the fein to do it
