removing tiles

has anybody got any tips for removing old tiles and adhesive from the wall?
it really is a pain in the arse sometimes!

I have 12m2 floor tiles to remove and 14m2 wall tiles

What i always did was u wil prob laugh but used a long flat screw driver not a thick on but a nice slim tip one

Never really used owt else on walls always did the trick

Then used a scraper to remove excess adhesvie

Ha Ha well here one for u mate

Ibought this thing called the mutt a long broom with a big heavy duty scraper on it that is worth its weight in gold for floor tiles

Bought it from topps tiles for about £17

6 months ago previously used ot be on hands and knees

I only use hammer and brick bolster, though an SDS drill with chisel can do the job very quickly though you have to watch the walls.

Wall tile adhesive normally flies off if you use a steamer assumng of course it is Class B tubbed and not bagged stuff

I use an sds drill if they are the slightest bit difficult coz I'm soft!
(make sure your drill has a chisel action as they all don't).
You can buy angled chisel bits from tradetiler.com which make it easier NOT to take half the wall away.

Or get a good quality 4" bolster. Don't attack the edge of the tiles as they are just likely to splinter, rather try and get the bolster tip under the adhesive, going straight in towards the tile at 90degrees. Once the tip is below the adhesive, I find that starting to knock the bolster under the tiles GRADUALLY helps lift them without breaking.

Just a thought - has anyone else taken a whole plasterboard wall down and re-boarded to save time?

First time I did it the customer nearly had a fit!!! :furious3:

Once they saw a new fresh wall go up within an hour though they were well chuffed!

i only use an sds drill 30 quid one with a tile removing chisel available from screwfix for 30 quid, this has paid for itself time and time again

can remove ad bag 15m2 in an hour with this chappy lol

make removal the mutts nutts
