Rubbish ?

Just wondering how many Tilers remove the rubbish from a job and do they charge extra or in with the sq mtr price? most of the jobs I get I have around 6 sacks full of tile off cuts , boxes and old tiles etc..

I take all my rubbish away, even if the customer has supplied the tiles. I just stick it in my garage til I have a job with a skip on. All cardboard goes in the recycling.

I generally allow for a skip. If the customer wants to get rid themselves, I say I will supply one for half cost ( when doing a complete bathroom) as it's worth it to me in time. I can clear rubbish straight away and I cut tiles with grinder on a bit of ply inside the skip.
dont have to bag it up for them either

No mate, I think it'd be pretty harsh if I got a fine for a few tile off cuts and a bit of cardboard. I'm sure there is some jobs worth out there that'd do it though.

I never take rubbish away. I bag it up for them or if they get a skip I through it in there..
They wont take trade waste down our tip unless you have a waste carriers licence. .
Its against the law to transport trade waste without a licence. .

The police. They were stopping vans round our way a couple of weeks ago and doing spot checks..

I think it's administered by the relevant local authority. The police, police it conjunction with your local authority.

Big jobs and full bathrooms get a skip costed into the job. Small jobs I bag up and put in the customers wheelie bin.

It is the police and the D.O.T , I know a tiler who got fined for carrying cardboard and empty adhesive tubs full of tile off cuts.

I bag rubbish up and customer disposes or if working for a contract , then there is either a skip on site or it is collected by licensed disposel comp.

Not a problem here. Local council have a skip near a disused quarry for general use. You're also allowed to dump building waste at the local builders merchant. 10 minute drive away is a recycling plant where a full (very! ) kangoo van load of rubble costs €3!

I've never heard of anyone around here getting into bother for carrying waste without a licence, I should really check what the local rules and regs are to make sure I'm all above board, I'd be really narked if I got a fine for carrying tile off cuts!

D.O.T (VOSA) & Police can report for summons or issue a fine but will also report you to the environment agency who are the enforcing bodies. Fines are hefty so I never take the risk.

I always tell customers that waste removal is their task and responsibility, ie no waste carriers licence. On occasion I'll lend them my trailer, if they have a towbar fitted.

Up to £5000 if your caught with waste from a job in your van!!
BQ do rubble sacks for £4 per 10 so leave all rubbish neatly stacked or charge full price for a skip.

Just apply for a pass at your local council. You can get a free pass to get rid of recyclable waste at your local tip. They will charge you for the waste if you use this service, but they can't prosecute you for carrying it to there.

You can apply for a waste carriers licence which isn't a fortune but you will have to dispose of the rubbish at the waste or recycling plant and not,at your local amenity tip, you will be charged for each visit and this is based on weight of the load and there is also a minimum charge , which if I recall correctly for the one closest to me is around £100 a visit . Where as a customer can take it as mentioned to the amenity tip for FREE!.

Well hot on fly tipping or not having a waste licence in Berkshire, I tell the client immediately about this and that if its a small domestic, they can dispose of themselves for free, or £220.00 for a skip, they usually say ' we'll dispose of the rubbish ', yes vans stopped around here, for weight issues and waste issues..

If its a big job I always give the option to the customer of having a skip. I include the price of a skip as an optional extra, if they say yes I order the skip. Small jobs I bag the waste up and call a friend who is a licenced carrier.
