rubi 45 degree trowel

one why i dont know , i would have though they would be clumsy to use , and why is it not round notch

Yes I have 2, Raimondi or Montolit do a similar trowel with a swivel handle. I cant see it taking over from a standard trowel though, I certainly wouldnt buy another but thats me.

i got one from ctd the other day as they were on special. haven't used it yet though, but will post on how i find it when i do. can't see myself going over to using it all the time though, it feels a bit odd, but thought i better get one all the same. looks nice though, another trowel for my bucket i suppose.

Why is that then, the trowel is simply designed to get the teeth at the right angle and depth..??? 10 mm trowel hence 10mm adhesive bed depth before compression.. no deeper than what the tooth is..

Then you need to use your trowel properly then :lol: because using the correct angle gives more depth than that.

The trowel above rubi is just designed to give the full bed depth with less stress on the users wrist, so

More like 8mm I believe.

Having used these trowels I am still undecided. I dont actually like spreading adhesive with one or cleaning it afterwards but I do like the fitting the tiles onto the adhesive spread on the floor when using one.

But would you say it is a ploy by adhesive comps to sell more adhesive , even though rubi don't make tile adhesive

Of course its not a ploy. Just another way of applying the correct amount of adhesive you and the tile being used requires.

Some people believe the world is out to get them !

i have use the trowel once and did;nt like it , but you get a great even spread of addy , it just feels awkward

I've got a couple and quite like them, but they are alien to use and get used to, so when I get a trowel out the van, I tend to go for what I'm used to and pick up a normal one.

dave if you hold a normal trowel at the correct angle you will only spread about 5mm i dont know many tilers that would use their trowel completely upright to the wall ????

I don't think it is a case of taking ones word for it.. used at the correct angle how can you half the tooth depth..?.. if you are getting only 5mm with your trowel then you are to shallow with your angle... but hey.. you stick to your method and others can use theirs.. but back to your comment on adhesives comps ... how do you figure that one then..

the (main) idea is that it is meant to push adhesive harder onto the tile or floor - increasing grab to substrate. apparently is meant to be less sore on your wrist.will take a bit of getting used to

They're on my list to try, anything to ease my RSI in the right elbow and forearm. Got to say anything that makes getting a better and even spread of addy easier is worth a go. Reckon they might be a bit of a chore to clean if you leave them to long but hey so what if they work.

Trial delayed as my mixer started growling at me today and smells funny (n.b this does not relate to a person before you jump in with the funnies)
