Sandwich boards

I need to make up just over 20mm & have 10mm CTD contract boards.
Has anyone ever sandwiched these or any other thermal boards together?
Any pit falls or is it a no no.

Yeah Doug, fix 1st layer as normal glued & screwed then glue & screw another layer on top of this, think it would work?

I've doubled up 12mm hardie on the wonkiest floor in the history of floors! Worked well, can't see there being a difference doing it with thermal boards.

This was 2 Hardi 500s sandwiched together Bri with no problems.

In theory, it'll be stronger than say, one 20mm board due to the extra layer of adhesive and the extra 2 layers of cement coating, don't you reckon? I certainly wouldn't have a problem doing it the way you suggest.

When you say that Bri it would be as there wouldn't be the same amount of foam between the 2 cement layers either.

I have used a 6 & 10 mm Marmox board together this way with no issues at all. I felt rather smug afterwards too [emoji41]

I've stuck 2 boards together but generally I'd just buy 20mm boards.

as long as sub floor is deflection free, I can't see it being a problem.

Did one of these trays last year. They stick together with what looks like a copy of ardex x77.

only possible problem that I could see would be interface "sandwich filling", if it's less than solid bed the ribs might collapse after setting leading to some deflection.
