Screed worries!

Hi, We had wet under floor heating fitted last summer and as we have a whole house renovated have only covered the kitchen floor, leaving the rest of the screed downstairs visible. I have gradually noticed more and more 'holes' appearing in the screed. At first there were very few and I thought nothing of it, but now there seem to be loads and most seem to have 'foam' exposed from underneath. I'm really worried that the screed was not thick enough and that we will now have to rip out our new kitchen and do something drastic to the entire floor downstairs.

Anyone know anything about this? Thanks!

Was this a sand/cement screed or a self leveling on top of insulation board...

Honestly, I don't know! I didn't ask many questions. I do remember the installer telling me that he would be using a self levelling screed so I assume that he meant the top layer.

Can you pop some pics on. It sounds like you might be right.... It could also be lack of compaction which can lead to the "apple pie effect" where the top is compacted but the under neath is soft and friable.... Either way it is probably fixable albeit may be a little costly to do but at least you won't have the disruption of digging it out...
