Sealing a "Wet Room"

Hi All

Need some advice on a job i've been asked to take on. Customer wants to turn upstairs ensuit in to a "wet room"... ie, take out shower tray, sink waste into the floor, and have floor tiles sloping slightly, into corner where waste will be. My question is ... should the room be specially sealed or "tanked" being that it is an upstairs ensuit ??
I'm pretty much an experienced tiler (about 6 years)and have done a couple of these before without any problems .... but they were at ground level !!

Any advice greatly appreciated

if they install an impey aquadec you can get a membrane (fly paper) that covers the floor and you tile over that then if water gets under the tiles it dose not reach the floor we have done a number of these and have had no problems .

Hi

Yes we can help you out and if you like talk you through it if need be no problem.

We have a Tuff2 base you can use with the Durabase tanking system which works faultlessly or if you must have Impey then we supply them too.

In your case the floor would need making sound before tanking and your wet area where the shower runs will need tanking also. The Tuff2 base needs no under boarding as oposed to others as its extremely strong and straight forward to fit.

As I said I will walk you through it if that will help.

cheers

I have used Impey system quite a bit,it is very good and easy to lay.It adds about half a day onto a normal fit. I haven't used any of the others so cannot comment.

We have worked to get a quality affordable system and secured it with the Tuff2. It is a superior base to the aqu-dec (impey)and when combined with the Durabase membrane tanking system is around £100.00 cheaper.

As I said if its Impey thats required we supply them as well.
