Hi everyone, I have a question regarding sealing natural limestone floor tiles. My concern is that when cutting them on the diamond wet cutter they will get stained with the water. Is it a good idea to seal the tile before cutting to prevent this then seal again after they are laid?
Its my first natural floor- well lets face it, all of us have to start somewhere, got the job on the back of doing a large mosaic floor(also first one).

Its a 20 metre kitchen floor, I have calculated that I need four bottles of sealant-the HG products matt one at around 14 quid a bottle- is there a cheaper alternative?

Welcome any comments...

It is a good idea to seal all naturals if you can at least once before fixing - limesone & sandstone type especially.
Doing a sandstone 26 sq m job in a few weeks - am setting aside a full day to be able to treat them twice before fixing. A bit of work before saves time at the end -also you are well covered against staining.

as long as you are washing them with clean water after each cut should have no problems somtimes customers dont have space to allow you to seal tiles first, as for sealer there are cheaper brands about but hg is fine ( hg stain protector is good for very porous stone ). goog luck kins

I'm with LF on this wise words indeed, just to add to the cutting of them if you slow down towards the end and have a small peice in behind the edge and cut into it slightly, it stops the break at the weak point
