Hi all,

Continuing with our constant product development we are now considering whether to make the Elektra heating mats with a self adhesive backing.

At the moment they are not, so you have the option to turn the mat upside down so the heating cable is under the fibre glass mesh. The mesh then acts as mechanical protection when you're troweling adhesive over the mat.

Your input on this would be much appreciated as it's always important to us that we supply want the customer wants:hurray:

Thanks,

Having had to lay a self adhesive mat this week, I prefer Not self adhesive.

These are my reasons:

I had a 10 sqm mat to fit into a kitchen diner. I started laying the mat cutting the backing to twist and turn it to fill the appropriate area. My first attempt left me with far too much mat to easily route the remaining wire around the border, so back to square one..:mad2:. Re-laid the mat, this time having to go closer to the borders and cut the backing accordingly to shorten the amount left at he end. This left me with many "short" bits of mat that were now being stuck down for the second / third time. I also had to flip the mat a couple of times to make certain turns so the self adhesive, obviously, was no good here. By the time I applied the slc the wires were riding up, so complete nightmare tbh.

All in all, I found the self adhesive mat a proper pain in the rear and would choose a non-self adhesive mat everytime .

I prefer to "dry" lay the mat and only stick it down when I'm happy, this way the wires are more likely to remain under the slc.
