Hi guys
I've landed my first tiling job since going out on my own and just want a bit of advice.
My customer wants a chequered blue and white pattern around 3 sides of her bath should i treat this as a wrap aroud pattern as you would a brick effect using the cut offs from the corner to start the next wall.

Any advice welcome
Thanks Richie

Hi yes you should aim to have all the tiles where possible wrapped around any turns and boxing in,, if you mark it out correctly you will be ok

goodluck

Richie - is it horizontal chequerboard in which case you can follow the tile around the internal corners with the offcut - making sure you have a decent size cut into the corners.
Or is it diagonal chequerboard which will require the size cut that came off the tile + the thickness of the tile to follow the 45 degree lines around the corner.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the help it is a horizontal chequerboard the tiles are only 4in so should i aim for a 2in cut into the corners. This could be difficult on the long side of the bath to have them the same at both ends if for example i end up with a 3in cut at one side should i continue with the 1in cut off.

Thanks Richie:thumbsup:

Yes - you can cheat a bit on size but try and get it near to a 4in. tile as possible as it will be very noticeable on the darker colour.
Start with a full tile at the edge of the bath at the end that you first see when you enter the room and tile into the corner ie. if the bath is 30" wide you will end up with approx. 2" cut into the corner. You can follow onto the bath wall with that 2" or 2.5" if it works for the bath wall. You are taught to put an equal cut to any wall but with chequerboard IMO it is aesthetically more appealing to follow the size/colour around.

Timeless John.
