i do a few kitchens start to finish so i usually get the electrician to first fix leaving the wires for the sockets poking through the wall if its been drylined anyway we get the worktops in and usually work out the cupboards to get full tiles from worktops to cupboards then its the question of putting the sockets at the right height personally i think it looks better if the sockets are in the middle of four cut tiles hard to explain but i think ive made sense do any of you have preferences on where you like the sockets positioned.

Middle of tiles if you get the luxury of having the sockets specially positioned for you:thumbsup:, but very rarely that it does:thumbsdown:, although I have been asked by a few architects over the years to work in with the sparky to get it spot on:yikes:

One big factory job, the architect actually had me working in with the internal drywall lads so that all walls worked full tiles - no cuts whatsoever:yikes::thumbsup:

did a kitchen once with 450mm +300mm tiles and about ten sockets;nightmare when the socket falls in middle of the tile.
i was kitchen fitting for tower hamlets and we had a polish tiler that spoke no english at all
he was a brilliant tiler and we got on well communicating in our own sign language, the russian painter spoke good english and a little polish so we got things sorted eventually

the plumber drilled a 100mm hole in the middle of a 150mm tile and broke it,these were cheapies and broke easily. the tiler said it couldnt be replaced,i said it could

i marked it out and drilled it from the front with a 5mm drill joining all the holes together so the middle dropped out and then filed it smooth

an hour or so and half a box of tiles later i gave him my masterpiece to fix

he was in hysterics and literally rolling around the floor kicking his feet in the air every time a tile would land in the bucket

betwen him , the painter and the west indian tenant i had tears from laughing so much
