Setting up website

Hi just wondering whether anybody has got any advise on setting up your website i have heard you can do it yourself.
any advise would be great

I've done my site myself.
1) Bought domain names - .com & .co.uk (so name cannot be stolen) £15 from UK2.net
2) Free website builder - 000webhost.com & build your site - Free
3) I upgraded my account so I can have an external SMTP for mail direct to my phone & additional mail boxes. There are lots of other benefits but not had time to use them lol

I pay £10 every year for .com
I pay £10 every 2 years for .co.uk
I pay £50 every year for my SMTP

If you have your own domain, you can use google apps for your emails, free for up to 10 users

I recently set mine up with a company who target UK based Sole Traders, so they seemed like an obvious choice to me. Soletraderwebsites.com Really happy with the service and price (£149). I don't really have the time or patience to try and get one up myself. I won't link my website as I'm probably not allowed, but they have samples to look at anyway.
