Shower fittings

Dont know about you chaps but I have started to notice that a lot of shower fittings like the shower plates and head fittings are getting smaller leaving not much tolerance when drilling the holes no room for mistakes , I had one the other day you had about 1mm tolerance round the plate it was a very slim line design giving no thought for the tiler so annoying.

The fitting on the back of the plate left about 1mm to the finished edge of the plate so the holes had to be spot on,it was a French design.

I drilled some shower body jet holes , they were the same, around 1mm tolerance.. no room for error :lol:

Ive never come across nything like this. Bit confused. If you only ave 1mm tolerance ehat does the plate push back to? Are you sur you're not confusing it wth any olive?

Think its probably to do with the eu using a smaller bore which isn't suitable for uk plumbing?
