Silicone tips?

I hate siliconing & can't get a decent finish, it's making my tiling look unprofesional , so wondering if theres any easy way to get a neet finish ? or at a push someone who could do it for me after each job?

I love doing it i allways use 1inch masking tape

im not the best to advise but as long as you take your time... with lots of tissue paper, a finger your willing to slice up and a lot of waste mine hasn't gone wrong or looks particularly bad from the first time I picked up the gun.

Washing up liquid in warm water, a profile tool and your finger... can't go wrong.

I always run through with my finger first, use the tool to clean up the excess and then re apply the finger to get a neat finish. Don't bother with tape.

with no tape, you make invisible silicone skin, and you will see it after few months, when it gets dirty....

Just looked at corner tape but it looks expensive & complicated, does anyone use a fugi tool or somewere around that name? The last job was bevelled tiles and the silicone spoiled the whole job.

Yes....the trick is to lay down a nice continuous bead (not too much) and just moisten your finger with a baby wipe and run it gently over the silicone, then go over with a Fugi tool. Keep wiping the Fugi clean with a baby wipe to remove excess and then again with your finger to smooth over the grout join diverts.

You can then baby wipe over the worktop/bath/tile or whatever to remove residue. Done right there will be no residue to go dirty.

The edges are firm enough to clean the invisible silicone skin off that Tony referred to.

Just finger and no rushing for me and comes out lovely. I do use tape along kitchen worktops though and always get comments saying how good it looks

You can buy a pack of plastic nozzles in toolstation, you then cut the nozzle depending on the the width you need, apply the silicone spray with some washing up liquid and water and then use a silicone tool and it should give a nice finish.

I use Fugi tools on silicone finishing, on occasions my finger, but the best advice i can give is before you silicone is prep work. . use a decent silicone. Cut nozzle for size of bead, use a spray bottle with soapy water in. Tool as necessery. Have decent wipes for excess. You will be surprised what a good job you can make when you have things prepared.

I use fugi profilers but they do take time getting used to. Keep practising and practising. One thing I do not use is water or soapy water. If water gets trapped behind the silicone it will turn the silicone mouldy.

I also carry a good supply of baby wipes and plenty of Plenty towel.

Yes I don't understand the soapy water thing. Surely you're contaminating the surface that your trying to stick the silicone to.
