Silione seal in a corner with anti slip floor tiles.

I will have ceramic tiles coming down onto prcelein floor tiles. However the floor tiles have and anti slip surface on them.

Going about sealing the way I normally do will give me a problem. The anti slip surface (loads of small diamond protrusions on them) will snag the Silicon.

Can anyone think of another way. The bottom row of wall tiles are not fixed yet.

I was thinking of leaving a 3mm gap and grouting in the corner where the wall and floor tiles meet, then using clear Silicon over it. That way the sngged Silicon wouldn't be too visable.

i wouldn't grout the gap as it's there for expansion. why not use a Silicon similar to the colour of the tiles.

A fine Silicon line and soapy over spray and tool in both directions will do.. make sure to leave no trailing bits.. smoothing is the key..

Dave, leaving traiing bits is going to be impossible to avoid. It's not a sandpaper like surface but the surface of the tile is anti slip. That is to say that there are little diamonds over the whole tile. These are about 2mm high.

Siliconing the corners in the conventional way will leave me with another problem as well. The diamond tips will be wanting to burst out of the radius of the joint.

Paul, I like your idea but it sounds expensive, and finding a dark grey Silicon the same colour as the tiles is not going to be easy as I live on the Devon/Cornwall boarder and the main suppliers seem to think we don't exist.

I think the nearest Tile Giant to me is in Bristol.

That is about 2 and a half hours away from me.

Screwfix do a limited supply of grout and Silicon of the Mapei stuff

you could probs order one online to mate! B&Q do the buildfix but only a small part of the range.

You could also make skirting from the floor tile to put over the sealant.



Another alternative could be to use internal expansion strips if you can get any localy.
