After laying 36 m2 of this, 600x600, 400x600 and 300x300. Ranging from 8mm to 18mm thick, been sealed, grouting it tomorrow.

Thanks widler, one of my favourites too, used a colour intensifier on this one, really brings out the colour, was a bit of a headache to get this one flat because of variation in tiles, worked out pretty good though!

Slate does seem to be making a come back , you goes yrs and never fix it , then you fix loads of it , i have had quite a bit of slate to fix this last yr ..

Not topps are they? Fit a few 'calibrated' last year,did nearly a full downstairs in greens and blues for a old time slater, he obviously loved slate same thing with thickness,i just dress the badly lipped ones with a thin chisel before sealing and grouting.

I did have that coverage of honed just before xmas. Single size of 600x300. Had to hump it all round the back of the house to the conservatory. My back was aching somewhat after that.

I formed the plinth for the AGA cooker too diamond, just a bit of shuttering work and concrete, guy who owns the place asked me to do it as it had to be spot on level. Reconditioned unit at nearly £6k!! Thanks to everyone for comments, much appreciated.

Ha ha! I've heard the "bad back" story for years, I couldn't walk properly for 8 months after surgery, so if its even a touch of what i went through, you wouldn't even lift a trowel, believe me I know all about back pain, six months of physio to get straightened out after a disc became infected and bent my spine like a banana, now that's pain!
