Ceramico tiling
I am doing job for a contractor that had this accoustic floating floor installed in a bathroom(mdf and a layer of foam stuck together). To cut a long story short we have had to screw down the mdf to the ply below the foam. The contractor who was trying to achieve an 'A' rating in the bathroom was very unhappy as this damages the accoustic properties of the foam in the floor(vibrational sound travels through the screws to the floor beneath)
I was just wondering what your guys experiences are in this area?I know there are rubber mats that are designed to recieve tiles, though I have never used them and dont know where to get them. There is also a plywood with a rubber sound barrier sandwiched in the middle which changes the resonation between the layers of ply. This should help vibrational and airbourne sound transfer.Again these are made in far off countries, and I would not know how to get my hands on them.
Any info on soundproofing and tiling or soundproofing systems or ideas that can be used in tiling would be cool.
Many thanks
