I think you may be confusing "food preparation" areas with kitchens. If you are grouting a tiled worktop then it is advisable to grout with epoxy as it does not harbour germs and is very easy to clean. Splashbacks on the other hand are not actually used to prepare or contact the food.

It is a legal requirement I believe to use epoxy grout everywhere in commercial kitchens though.

As grumps says, is it a private kitchen or a commercial kitchen, Microflex and Microcolour have microban which is some addative that protects agasint bacteria, I dont know the names of equivilants from other manufacturers, but most if not all have the same type of product.

A commercial kitchen will need to be epoxy though more resiliant but more importantly has to satisfy the health and safety requirements, I wouldnt be using epoxy in a private kitchen unless it was absolutley neccessary as it is trickier to apply and over the top in most situations.

tend to use microflex unless customer wants epoxy,in which case they pay !!

Dont like the micro colour grout.Prefer Mapei,but my favourite is SOVEREIGN...love that stuff and it does dry BRILLIANT WHITE.anyone else like it?
