Hi everyone,I've been asked to price a small splash back 2.5 m2 with labour and materials (adhesive, grout, trim and primer) Shes already got 100 x 100 ceramics....What adhesive, grout and primer would you advice and how much will it be from topps? The substrate is plaster....but at the end of each wall theres been some boxing in (pipes i think 150 x 150) , one side is old tiles and the other is coated wood..Would i just sand these down then prime? How much would you guys charge?Thanks...Monty

Whatever price you give mate just remember that although 2.5 sqm isnt a large area it is still around 250 tiles you are putting on.
Any old tiles mate just remove them.
As for materials i myself would just use a tub of Bal blue star with a flex grout.

Open a trade account mate or you will never make good money mate.

If the timbers study and non-flexing give it a good bashing with some 40 grit aluminium oxide paper and prime with APD/Primer G. If there's just four tiles and you can get them off without much problem, rip em off while she's not there. Remember the tilers alway right.

Price seems okay, depends on how much cutting around sockets you have.

Little tip for splash backs. Instead of using individual spacers or wedges to keep your bottom row on the line, use some upvc window beading from wickes etc, it's around 3mm x 15mm flat. Just lay that over your worktop and use it as a mini batten, then when complete slide it out and you have a great little gap to Silicon.

Cheers,

Dave
